How to tie your Tae Kwon Do belt

Here we go! Step-by-step...

1. Place your belt around your waist from the back. Leave an adequate amount of belt on the right to use later for tying.

2. Hold the belt in place on the right while wrapping the belt around your waist once.

3. Place your belt in your left hand over your belt and take the bottom and wrap it up and under both wraps of belt.

4. Then place the top belt over lower belt and pull through.

5. Pull really tight!

TKD Testing

Ooops! I forgot to put the times of my testing: 4:30 to 5:15pm.

To practice breaking, I'm going to try to borrow a practice board from Master Steve this week. He is also going to help test you guys! =D

February 23, 2008 Updates

Hey everyone! To make sure every blog is read, I would like everyone to comment this blog after reading. This is to make sure that I know every parent is up to date with the classes. Therefore, any blog concerning a class your child(ren) are in, PLEASE comment it. The link is below the blog and you do not have to be a member. Just type your name and that you read. Some people may think that's silly, but these blogs hold crucial information. For me, this is easier then printing out a sheet each week and giving it to the students, and having the info never reach the parents. (I've seen this happen many times =P). Thanks!!

Drama - Classes are going great! I would like to know who has their costumes so far, who has questions, etc. PLEASE continue to practice lines and older students NEED to being scripts to class. For the Jonah play, I will have a list of props posted with instructions.

TKD - Testing is going to be March 7th, unless I decide we need another week for prep. Here is the procedure for testing:

Beginner class:
Warm ups
5 push-ups
5 sit-ups
5 squats
(Will have to count to 5 in Korean for each of those exercises)
Chun-Ji (Their form)

If passed, the students will advance to the next level, a yellow stripe. If they do not pass, then we will continue to work on the forms and I will test them when they are ready. IF students are only practicing on Fridays at class, they will probably not pass the test.

Advanced Class
Warm ups
10 push-ups
10 sit-ups
10 squats
(Will have to count to 10 in Korean for each of those exercises)
Yellow belts: Do San
Green stripes: Wan Yo
Green Stripes will have to break 1 board with Snap Kick. You have to break the board to pass the testing.

Parents and friends are welcome to attend the testing. The testing itself will probably take half of class or less. So once it is over, I would like to work with the students on some techniques.

MY BLACKBELT testing is Feb 26th and 28th. Students are welcome to attend. Tuesday is forms and Thursday is breaking and promotion. All students at my school will be testing. The gym is located in Murrells Inlet on 17 bypass across of the Inlet Square Mall in a strip mall with a salon and eye care clinic.

February 16, 2008 Updates

5-7 Drama: Keep going over the script at home. Also, keep working on finding costumes. If you have any questions about them, please e-mail me.

8-12 Drama: I love how we can go through the play twice during our practice time. Please bring scripts to class and practice lines at home. Josh has the award this week for memorizing the most lines! Also, I know there are art classes and dance before and after drama, if your child HAS to eat during drama, please provide a small snack. Also, if you have any questions on costumes, please let me know. I will have a prop list ASAP.

TKD: Continue practicing forms at home. I hope to have our first testing in 3 weeks. Let your child(ren) know so that they can be working REALLY hard on their forms.

February 11, 2008 updates

Please read the entire blog! This one has A LOT of information.

Younger Drama: The play is going great! I would like them to begin bringing their costumes by April 4th. This will give us a month to perfect our "quick changing"!

Older Drama: I gave out parts to "What Do You Do for Three Days Inside a Fish?"
Kaitlyn: Callie AND Carla. <-- please notice the change.
Tori: Beth
Josh: Jonah
Alyssa: Angel
Reagan: Manny
Savannah: Mo
Josiah: Zeke AND King
Margo: Sandy
Maggie: Andy

COSTUMES:
Kaitlyn, Maggie, and Tori: Normal, everyday clothes.
Jonah and King: Bible attire. Jonah needs to be kinda plain, while king more dressed up.
Reagan, Margo, Savannah, and Josiah: SURFER clothing. Swim suits, beachy t-shirts, flip flops, etc.
Alyssa: A white gown... or you can wear white jeans and jacket? If you want to dress Biblical or Modern, does not matter to me. Be creative with this!

ALL COSTUMES need to be brought and worn BY APRIL 4th.

OFF BOOK WEEK (no using scripts during class) IS MARCH 28th! That gives the students 6 weeks to practice their lines as well as memorizing the line (or cue) before theirs.

Please e-mail me with any questions.

TKD Students: Practice, practice, practice forms! At least 10 times a week. That's only two minutes a day! Not hard work at all. Also, for testings, white belts NEED to be able to do 5 perfect push-ups (nose touching floor). All you yellow and green stripes need to do 10. Same for sit ups.

February 5, 2007 Updates

Sorry this is a little late!

Little Drama: I love this play! If students go over their lines at home, we may be able to take out the Narrator saying their lines before they say them. That is our goal!

COSTUMES:
Audrey: Jeans; either a red or black top; some sort of red cape, can be fabric, blanket, anything! It does not have to have a hood.

Kyle: Jeans; a polo shirt or anything to make him look like "Manager of Fairy-tale Land."

Jaiden: Jeans; a pink shirt (for Pig); a yellow shirt (for Star); and a dress-up dress for Snow White.

Maille: Jeans; a brown shirt (for Wolf); a yellow shirt (for Star); And an outfit for an old woman (the disguised evil step-mother).

Jaiden and Maille will have "quick changes" from one outfit to another. They will have just about everything (except Snow White dress) on in layers, to make the changes easier. I will have someone backstage to help. =].

Older Drama: We learned how to use props last week. GOOD NEWS! I found a very cute, Biblical play that I am editing at the moment. "What Do You Do for Three Days Inside a Fish?" A comical play about Jonah and how it relates to modern day. I have acted in it before, and I'm sure the students will love it!

ALL TKD Students: I sent home folders with you guys (unless they were left with me by accident), and inside of them is a list of school rules! Try to make sure you study and follow them. Also, work on forms! That way we can advance to our first testing of the semester: Yellow stripes, green stripes, and GREEN BELTS! =D.

See ya Friday!
